There are somethings in the world that are pretty safe bets. Rain falls down, ducks go quack and the Earth orbits the sun. Another such constant is that BMW produce rear wheel drive cars. For decades their signature devotion to powering the back wheel has been commendable. However, today hell has frozen over as the German company break the habit of a lifetime. The 2 Series Active Tourer is the first front-drive BMW.
Utilising the same 1.5 litre three cylinder petrol engine and four cylinder diesel as the new Mini, this is the front wheel drive 2 Series Active Tourer. I repeat FRONT WHEEL DRIVE. The five seat MPV, that is set to receive an M Sport package, will get further engine options in early 2015. As a direct competitor to the Mercedes-Benz B-Class, the 2 Series Active Tourer boasts 468 litres of boot space as well as an involving drive.
Will it still drive like a true BMW or is this simply the forerunner to a Mini MPV?
