“Have you ever wanted to own a Jaguar F-Type” is one of those questions in life that generally answers itself. There are few four-wheeled objects of desire on the road today more potent that this, the cream of Big Cat’s crop. The F-Type exudes an aura of power, adrenaline, and subtle seduction in equal measure and, much like a certain be-suited suave and sophisticated British superspy, few are immune to its charms.
Only weeks ago did Jag announce the release of the F-Type British Design Edition, a limited-run special that added some red, white and blue-themed cosmetic sparkle to the already glittering F-Type package.
However, it was only a matter of time before Jaguar’s resident tinkerers got their hands on the inner-workings of the F-Type. We’re talking about the boys and girls in white coats whose minds are wired to see past the beautiful exterior and whose sole purpose is to harness the Big Cat’s ultimate performance potential.
And so that moment is here. As the first series production Jaguar to be developed by Special Vehicle Operations, the new F-Type SVR benefits from this crack engineering team’s intimate knowledge of precision engineering, performance and design. Capable of a bone-jarring 200mph, the new F-Type SVR promises to wring every last drop of performance out of the two-seat aluminium sports car while retaining the crucial element of day-to-day usability that lies at its heart.
Specific details on the SVR are sketchy but what we do know is that the no-holds-barred F-Type will be a lighter, faster and more powerful evolution, featuring an-all new titanium exhaust system and offered, interestingly, in both coupé and convertible guises.
We shall have to curb our enthusiasm to glean more information on the upcoming F-Type SVR until the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, where it will make its official public debut before arriving in showrooms this summer.
