As we trudge through the last weeks of winter battling the cold and the rain keep the thought of summer in your mind, and never loose faith. Oh I’m referring to the horrific weather we are experiencing in the UK, though I should clear that up incase you are reading this from the Caribbean. However when summer comes the roadsters blossom and the world is a better place. B-road bashing in a two seater heading for a country pub is a good hobby to take up during this period. Mercedes has been preparing its all-new SLK drop-top for just such an occasion.
After rumors, speculation, a leaked promotional video and even a test drive from Nico Rosberg the car is now ready to meet the public. The all-new SLK takes styling features from the SLS with its much more angular stance as well as single bar grill. The chassis has been built from the ground up to promote true sports car handling and the new interior is typical Merc luxury. The SLK keeps its mettle folding roof but this time there is an option to have a panel of glass fitted that youcan change the opacity at the touch of a button. The entry SLK is listed as being a 3.5 litre V6 with 306BHP but the AMG range topper has a 5.5 litre V8 with 420BHP. The interesting thing is that the option of a diesel is now one you can tick. It’s a 2.1 litre twin-turbo engine with 204BHP.
The car shall make its debut at the end of this month.
