The current E-Class is a very well made, very pleasant car with a vast amount of options and engines. However in a deep dark corner of Mercedes-Benz lurks the AMG division and make no mistake… They are completely insane! Engines that eat children are installed into cars such as the E-Class making them fire-breathing axe murderers. Well with the 2012 E-Class we have been promised the same recipe.
The biggest change with this new car is that the engine is no longer the historical 6.2 litre but is now a 5.5 litre twin-turbo V8. Despite the lull in capacity it does produce 550BHP and uses it to get to 62MPH in just 4.3 seconds. Do remember that at the end of the day this is a luxury saloon and not a supercar. Top speed is 186MPH if you opt for the sports pack or 155MPH if you don’t.
The one thing that is annoying me about this car is the fact that it’s still called the E63. Ok so it was a 6.2 litre and they rounded it up for tradition, I can live with that. But what we have here is an out and out lie on the packaging of the car… Sort it out Mercedes.
