The trouble with being at the top is that everyone beneath you always wants to climb above. The Porsche 911 is a symbol of exactly how a sports car should behave, however, competition in this market is ferocious and so the cars rivals have indeed been on Porsche’s case. Celebrating 40 years of its Turbo model, and in a bid to crush its opposition, Porsche have reveled the 991 Turbo.
This is the first time we have had official word on the 991 911 Turbo and it would appear it was worth the wait. Powered by a 3.8 litre flat-six boxer engine, this twin-turbo leviathan produces 513BHP and 552BHP in Turbo and Turbo S guises respectively. 0-62MPH in the Turbo S comes and goes in just 3.1 seconds and its top speed is 198MPH. Both cars also receive four wheel steering to increase agility as first seen on the 991 GT3. This 911 Turbo is also the first car to wear a Turbo badge and not come with the option of a manual gearbox. Active aerodynamics also heavily feature in this incarnation with a three stage front splitter and rear wing.
