A Chevrolet Corvette represents an awful lot of American pride. NASA gave them to their astronauts, they have seen racing success all over the world and many people aspire to have one of these “relatively affordable” performance icons. At this years 2014 North American International Auto Show a crowd favourite gets the new Stingray treatment. This ladies and gents is the 2015 Corvette Z06.
Looks menacing doesn’t it?! Lower, harder, faster. This new 2015 Z06 will sure “put lead in your pencil.” Powered by an LT4 6.2 litre supercharged V8 producing at least 625BHP and 635lb-ft of torque, all of that potential is translated to the rear wheels via either an 8 speed automatic or a 7 speed manual transmission. Chevy claim that the 8 speed gearbox can shift faster than the dual-clutch found inside a Porsche 911. The cars aluminium frame is “essentially unchanged” from the C7.R race car further providing evidence that this is the “most track capable Corvette yet.” Aerodynamically the 2015 Corvette Z06 includes larger intakes for its shiny new supercharger, a large carbon front splitter and a rear wing.
With all of the options ticked it is said that this car will lap a track faster than a ZR1. The Z06 goes on sale early 2015.
