Mazda are pressing on with bringing their latest generation vehicles to the market that promote premium design as well as their already famous reliability. The product portfolio is nearly complete with the Kodo design langue reaching into each segment. Mazda’s Fiesta fighter, the 2, has been a great little car but it is now beginning to show its age. Today the future of this hatchback has been revealed in all-new 2015 Mazda 2.
Capturing much of the design first shown in the well received Hazumi, this sharp looking hatch promises to deliver good driving dynamics and economy. Powered by the latest SkyActiv engines, a 1.5 litre petrol and 1.5 litre turbo diesel, CO2 emissions should be impressively low. Something that will aid the 2015 Mazda 2 in its efficiency is how little the car will weight. No official figures have been given, but we would expect it to be under 1,000KG. Very little has changed from the concept car, no bad thing as Hazumi was one of our favourites from this years Geneva motor show. Externally the family resemblance to the Mazda 3 is clear to see, particularly in the rear. The cabin sports a clean minimalist design with sculpted surfaces and high quality materials.
The 2015 Mazda 2 will launch early next year with both a manual and automatic transmission option.
