The Mazda MX-5 has a cult following, and why not, it is after all one of the greatest sports cars of all time! This little Japanese roadster was recently unveiled in its much anticipated fourth generation. As the crowds held their breath a striking new design appeared from beneath the dust sheet, one that has gone down very well with enthusiasts. Its more aggressive styling paves the way for a machine that is thoroughly modern whilst embracing its rich 25 year past. The next question is what will become of the Mazda MX-5 CUP?
Shown for the first time at the SEMA show in America, this is the 2015 Mazda MX-5 CUP race car. It is still undergoing development and so performance figures have yet to be finalised, however, we do know that it will be powered by a 2.0 litre SKYACTIV engine. With a new roll cage, racing tyres, suspension and power train changes this little fighter means business. The much loved race series will go on in three parts simultaneously in Asia, North America and Europe culminating in a final showdown between all of the drivers at Laguna Seca to crown the champion.
We are all very excited for our first taste of the all-new Mazda MX-5, but this 2015 Mazda MX-5 CUP car is sure to get gentlemen racers salivating.
