To many people the Ford Mustang is the iconic muscle car, the King of the aggressive, snorting, fire spitting machines we all know and love. It is a car that historically has never cared about how fast it can lap the Nurburgring and is a lot more bothered about how fast and cool it looks going down route 66, and whether the rest of North America can hear it as it does so. These days, customers have a wide range to choose from, be it the V6, the EcoBoost, the V8 GT, GT350 or the whole hog GT350R we really are spoilt for choice; and now we are being even more spoilt with the 2015 Shelby Mustang GT.
After the previous successes of the 2007 Shelby GT and the 2013 model, Shelby American are now bringing out a 2015 model based on the latest Mustang GT and, thankfully, it seems nothing short of insane. It will come with and also be available with enhancements from Ford Racing Performance Parts, Shelby’s own upgrades and high caliber third party components.
Possibly the most important element of this car is it’s power output so maybe a supercharged engine producing 627bhp is enough? No?! Then over 700bhp can be achieved with further upgrades if that sounds more to your liking. It comes with WELD racing wheels with Michelin tyres, a Borla exhaust and Wilwood six-piston front brakes. Billet aluminium front grilles and a carbon fibre bodykit which enhances the Shelby aesthetically further.
The new Shelby Mustang GT is planned to be sold round the world and is certified for use in all 50 states. It comes with a Shelby American CSM number registered in the company’s registry. The modifications and original car price combined come to over $70,000, or £46,250. This means it is not only more expensive than a Dodge Challenger Hellcat, but also more than Ford themselves are expected to charge for their own GT350R.
