The new 2016 Cadillac CTS-V has been announced and, on paper at least, it can be described as nothing short of insane. This new super saloon definitely gives its German rivals something to worry about performance wise, Why? Because it has 640bhp and can achieve 200mph. No, that isn’t a misprint! This American saloon really is more powerful than a Lamborghini Huracán. It can also go from 0-62mph in 3.6 seconds, which is as fast as a Pagani Zonda F.
The engine that fuels the most powerful Cadillac ever is a 6.2-litre supercharged V8 ‘LT4’ unit that you would find in the new Corvette Z06 and sends it’s power via an eight speed gearbox.
To control the power and to make the CTS-V less of a stereotypical muscle car, a lot of work has been done to make sure it handles better. It is 25 per cent stiffer than the standard CTS and also has a limited slip differential as well as a Magnetic Ride Control damper. Handling has been made a high priority on this very serious car.
It will be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show in January and in America is where it will most likely stay along with the ATS-V unfortunately.
