The Concours of Elegance in England is one of the worlds big three concours events and to have that status, it much be something very special. It is unique recipe that begins with a royal setting, Her Majesties Windsor Castle no less. The castle and grounds are the perfect backdrop for some of the rarest cars on Earth to come together. These perfectly maintained lawns are the green canvas on which exceptionally maintained machines are displayed.
An intoxicating mix of elegant classics and some more modern legends, some of which may never be publicly displayed again, are set in this regal atmosphere. People waft along in their fine suits admiring these cars like the works of art that they are. Each burnished specimen of perfection is special, but even within this rich galaxy of stars there were a few that shone even brighter.
Ferrari provided many headliners with a 250 California, the very interesting 288 EVO, and even a one-off Ferrari Testarossa Spider. However, the most iconic prancing horse was a 250 SWB once owned by Graham Hill. An Aston Martin V12 Vantage Zagato presented a bold stance whilst the attention grabbing Alfa Romeo Disco Volante competed for attention. Her Majesty the Queen even allowed her own bespoke Bentley to be on display.
This wonderful event surrounded by countryside, castle wall, and immaculately dressed soldiers, is like no other I have attended. The 2016 Concours of Elegance has set the bar rather high from the remaining events of this year.
