Subaru face tough competitors in every segment and whilst the Japanese brand does produce some good cars, in order to be king of the hill, you need to be faultless these days. Far from settling for mediocrity, Subaru are preparing to mount an all-out offensive on the industry using a new scalable platform. The first model to receive the next generation treatment will be the 2017 Subaru Impreza and it is set to make its debut very soon.
The Impreza name is legendary and so when a new generation is unveiled to the world takes notice. Set to be unveiled at the 2016 New York Motor Show, this 2017 Subaru Impreza will be offered as both a hatchback and saloon keeping everyone happy. There are not yet any details on where power will be sourced from, but expect a boxer engine to be under the bonnet. This teaser image of the car suggests that it will stick closely to the Impreza concept from last years LA Motor Show. The new platform that will underpin the 2017 Subaru Impreza will be both stronger and lighter than its predecessor.
And yes… There will inevitably be a new WRX STI that is to take on the likes of Ford’s Focus RS.
