We have said on many occasions that Kia has come so very far from the budget brand it once was. Smart design language, strong product portfolio, and a seemingly unbeatable 7 year manufacturer warranty. Their image has been transformed and public perceptions about the brand have changed. However, the 2017 Detroit Motor Show is the stage for Kia to shake things up once again. This is the 2018 Kia Stinger GT.
Taking on the likes of BMW 3 Series and Alfa Romeo Giulia, the 2018 Kia Stinger GT is a polarising new saloon. You only need to take one look at its taught muscular body work to see the sort of statement that is being made. Ducts and vents find a home on an athletic silhouette whilst broad shoulders give this machine real presence. However, beauty is only skin deep… The real question is, does it have something under the bonnet to back up those aggressive looks? I should say so!
Three engine options will be available in the UK but the most potent is a 3.3 litre twin-turbocharged V6 with 365 HP and 369lb ft of torque. 0-62 MPH takes 5.1 seconds and its top speed is quoted as being 167 MPH. There is also a 252 BHP 2.0 litre petrol as well as a more sensible diesel. Adjustable suspension is a first for Kia and finds a home on this Kia Stinger GT. An 8 speed automatic gearbox is on offer.
No pricing structure has been announced as of yet.
