The words “exciting” and “Vauxhall” don’t really go together but cast your mind back to 2001 and you may remember the most exciting Vauxhall to ever go on sale. The fire-breathing, muscle clenching Monaro was in effect an Australian muscle car wearing a Vauxhall badge. The result of this was a roaring V8, tyre smoke and immense amounts of fun all for a good price! This was then later followed up by the VXR8 that produced the same party tricks but had the advantage of two extra doors. Today the Aussies are back with the new VXR8, let the sideways action begin.
The new rear-wheel-drive 6.2 Litre V8 monster does come with a steeper price of £49,500 (includes 20% VAT) but when you think about what you get and it’s competition all becomes clear. Cars such as the Mercedes E63 and Jaguar XFR are well over £13,000 more expensive in their cheapest form and before 20% VAT. I’m sorry even though this may wear a Vauxhall badge you can’t argue that it isn’t as entertaining as it’s rivals. The new car has modified grills, rims and just general added meatyness. You get 550 Nm of torque not to mention 430BHP that allows those horses to gallop to 62MPH in 4.9 seconds.
