The Subaru Impreza is a very capable car, let history provide a full and impressive CV to quantify that. However, you can’t live in the past and the competition over the years has been getting tough. For the Subaru loyalists an all-new model is expected to bring the car bang up to date. At the 2016 New York Auto Show the world has the brands answer in the form of the 2017 Subaru Impreza.
Being offered in both 5 door and saloon guises, this is the all-new 2017 Subaru Impreza. It sits on a new platform that is both stronger and lighter than the outgoing model. The increase in structural rigidity is good news for handling. Body roll is said to be reduced by 50%. Its new bodywork is clean with flowing character lines that run from nose to tail. The familiar Subaru family face is retained but receives headlights that are set deeper into the front facia. This car is taller, wider, and shorter than its predecessor. All wheel drive and a four cylinder boxer engine has been confirmed but no further details have been given at this point.
Inside the 2017 Subaru Impreza has taken a real step forward in terms of quality and technology. A new STARLINK touchscreen infotainment system features whilst leather lines much of the cabin. The increased dimension also mean that there is more space for occupants.
Only the hatchback will make it to the UK, but a WRX STI variant will also be on the way.
