For those who don’t know, Ariel is a small Sumerset based firm that produce face deforming cars. In short the machines are scaffolding on wheels, but not in a bad way. These ultra-lights can achieve mind blowing acceleration thanks to the lack of mass. The Atom is the only model available but over the years has come in several variations, with options such as front and rear wings as well as a windscreen. But there has been an option that is only spoken about in whispers… A V8 engine.
Now to the casual car fan this seems no big deal as many cars have V8’s. But think about the physics here, putting an engine of that size in a car that light is like giving a sailboat a nuclear power station to propel itself. Insane would be an understatement! Toady Ariel invited a handful of Atom owners to pass judgment on this car that is sure to bring forth the apocalypse. With the addition of a more intricate aero package and of course a naturally aspirated 3.0 litre V8 engine, this is the Ariel Atom 500 V8. Yes, 500BHP and nothing but the bare essentials or operation.
No figures as yet but sub 3 seconds is a given.
