Aston Martin over the past 10 years has really become as prominent as they were in the 1960’s. The time in-between was spent meandering from idea to idea, creating some good cars but many with flaws that degraded them. Since the dawn of the DB9 back in 2003 the British company has enjoyed a restoration to former glory making simply the worlds best GT’s and winning in various disciplines of motorsport. Providing racing teams and wanna-be customers with racers has now become commonplace.
This is Aston Martin’s new GT4 race car and you maybe thinking that it looks very much like last years model based on the V8 Vantage. Well the truth is that Aston didn’t need to change much as the car is a proven winner and so required very little in the way of improvements. The 2011 car is powered by the same 4.7 litre V8 GT4 spec engine but now has a different mapping to improve throttle response. On the mechanical front that is about it though the bodywork does borrow a few styling tips from its V12 laden brother. These include V12 Vantage; front splitter, front bumper, rear diffuser, rear bumper, boot flick, clear rear lights. So the car is simply an enhancement of an already winning product. “If it isn’t broken don’t fix it!”
