Due to the worlds focus on the environment, the vast majority of manufacturers have to balance out their carbon footprint. However, if the only products you build are top-end luxury GT’s and sports cars, you find yourself in a bit of a pickle. Aston Martin now produce the Toyota iQ based Cygnet and despite what you think, it is selling like hot cakes.
Personally I feel that the car undermines the brand and the fact that it is really a Toyota further adds impurities to the winged logo. Yet Aston simply cant keep up with demand of the luxury city car. Only existing Aston Martin owners can buy the Cygnet as an “optional extra” to go with their larger purchase. At £30,000 and with looks only a mother could love, the Cygnet may be more of an ugly duckling, but its sales figures speak for themselves.
