Sometimes it takes just two letters to transform an ordinary car into something extraordinary. Nowhere else is this more pertinent than in the case of Audi and in particular the spectacular range of RS models on offer form the famous old German stable.
Standard RS 6 or RS 7 spec not enough to satisfy your adrenaline lust? Well here’s something that might just do the trick. Introducing the all new Audi RS 6 Avant and RS 7 Sportback Performance models. Performance being the operative word.
Joining the already formidable ranks of the Audi RS range, the RS 6 Avant and RS 7 Sportback ‘Performance’ models ramp up the power to a hard-hitting 597bhp and 553 lb/ft torque. As those RS devotees out there amongst you will no doubt note, that represents a handy 45 bhp and 37lb/ft upgrade on the existing arsenal of Audi RS 6 and RS 7 super saloons. The end result? A supercar-challenging 0-62mph sprint time of just 3.7 seconds, or in other words a 1.4 second speed boost over the ‘standard’ RS editions from 0-124mph.
The RS 6 and RS 7 Performance models will draw power from an upgraded version of the roaring 4.0-litre TFSI engine familiar to existing RS drivers. The standard top speed of 155mph can be upped to 174mph as an option on both the Avant and Sportback Performance cars but for those searching for nothing short of extreme track performance, tick the dynamic package plus box to unlock a pulse-racing 189mph terminal velocity.
21‑inch cast aluminium wheels flank the signature array of flared RS bumpers and bodywork, including large front air inlets and rear diffuser. Inside, the standard issue RS super sports seats will keep even the most ambitious pilot well buckled down.
Available to order in the UK from November, the Audi RS 6 Avant and RS 7 Sportback Performance models will hit showrooms in February2016. Pricing for the RS 6 Performance begins at £86,000, with its RS 7 Sportback counterpart available from £91,600.
