Manufacturers are looking at ways to ease pollution and congestion in the worlds cities. Some are focusing on producing eco-friendly hatchbacks, others are going all-out with electric based solutions. Renault made the Twizy, a 2 seat electric quadricycle promising city commuting on the cheap. Now Audi are preparing to enter the game with their Urban Concept.
Set to debut at Frankfurt, the Audi Urban Concept is a small electric car designed to be perfect for zipping through congested cities. The futuristic design does look like a cross between a slug and something from Tron, but the overall appearance of the car is pleasant. A retractable canopy reveals a staggered two-seat arrangement within its low slung body. To keep weight down the Germans have used reinforced plastics and carbon fibre heavily in the construction. Two batteries power the Urban Concept but their range has not yet been announced.
