The Geneva Motor Show is finally upon us and Bentley are showing off the direction they are going to take for the future of luxury and performance with the Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6. This is the result of a British viewpoint of a two seater sports car using modern design, expertly handcrafted using the finest materials, teamed with advanced performance technology.
Wolfgang Dürheimer , the Chairman and Chief Executive for Bentley said, “EXP 10 Speed 6 is one vision for Bentley’s future – a powerful, exquisite and individual concept. The show car has the potential to be the new pinnacle luxury two-seat sports car. It offers thrilling, driver-oriented performance, complete with trademark modern Bentley luxury and effortlessness.
It could be a future model line, alongside the Continental GT and redefining the pinnacle of another market sector, and the styling of the EXP 10 Speed 6 could influence the expansion of the Bentley family. This is not just a new sports car concept – but the potential Bentley sports car – a bold vision for a brand with a bold future.”
The aerodynamic lines and contours of this new car show a focused aim at high performance but remains unmistakably a Bentley. A revised version of the iconic Bentley grille as well as a reinterpretation of the four round headlights we have become used to make certain of Bentley’s notion of looking towards the future.
Inside, inspiration is derived from a continuous line that goes around the cabin, going through the console and into the wings and doors before flowing back to the armrest. There is also two quilted sports seats and a 12” touch screen display to accentuate the idea of modern luxury as well as the speed. A perfect blend of opulence and authenticity – digital and analogue worlds collide to create a cockpit of extreme beauty and sophistication without losing any sense that you are in a Bentley. The driver is updated by the curved touchscreen and is reassured of other information through analogue instruments. Bentley could have very easily lost what makes a Bentley what it is with this car, they could have garnished it with lashings of high-tech sophistication in an almost desperate attempt to be the best. But they haven’t – from the brown leather, to the sculptured touchscreen, the beautifully handcrafted components, this car may indeed be the future, but it is definitely still a Bentley.
Aston Martins cards appear to be marked by the Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6.
