In 1973 Volkswagen introduced the hottest Beetle there ever was. The GSR, or Gleb Schwarzer Renner, literally translates to “yellow black racer.” VW’s sports beetle has something of a cult following and as result they are rather difficult to find. The latest beetle is to get the black and yellow treatment as the German brand churns out the sportiest Beetle ever.
If VW are not intending to use Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow” to market this car then they are missing a trick. The new bug is powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged four cylinder engine with 207BHP. 0-62MPH is completed in 7.2 seconds and the GSR is capable of a terminal velocity of 142MPH. There is a choice of two gearboxes, either a 6 speed manual or a dual-clutch automatic. Only 3,500 units will be produced with that standout paintwork in toe.
