A year after the launch of the BMW M4 coupé, the German manufacturer have showed off the new BMW Concept M4 GTS. With this new model, the company are seeking to continue in the footsteps of the M3 special edition models such as the BMW M3 Evolution, the M3 GT and the M3 CSL to name a few. The racing background off the M Division ensures hardened and faster versions of already quick cars, as well as limited production numbers to create a blend of luxury, exclusivity and performance.
The BMW Concept M4 GTS boasts new technologies ready to make their appearance when the release date is announced. The water injection system, for example, as seen in the M4 MotoGP Safety Car, benefits from greater output and torque boost over the standard version. The focus on track performance doesn’t stop there either, with a manually adjustable front splitter and rear wing as well as a carbon fibre reinforced plastic bonnet for less weight and lower centre of gravity creates a more agile and athletic beast.
The devilish Frozen Dark Grey body with orange accents hides a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine. The M4’s standard engine produces 425bhp and the water injection system should add a 8%, 35bhp increase in this new model. The torque figures are also expected to benefit from a similar increase.
