Cars are getting bigger and bigger in todays world. Drive one of the latest things to hit the showroom and you’ll see that it takes up most of the lane. We loved the BMW 1M because it brought M3 performance into a car that felt the right size. It goes down as one of the all-time greatest M cars and as a direct result of its popularity, we now have the BMW M2 which promises to make just as much of an impact.
This compact coupe features a taught and muscular body that stretches over the widened track. Swollen wheel arches and a very aggressive front bumper joins the traditional BMW kidney grill. Powered by a turbocharged 3.0 litre in-line six cylinder engine, total output is 365BHP and 343lb ft of torque. However, on over-boost that rises to 369lb ft. 0-62MPH? If you tick the DCT option that figure is just 4.3 seconds or 4.5 with the manual. Top speed of this BMW M2 is electronically limited to 155MPH unless you go for the 168MPH driver’s package.
All of this sounds very promising and with a carbon fibre trimmed cabin the interior also talks the talk. How will it stack up to rivals such as the Mercedes-AMG A45 or Audi RS3?
The BMW M2 Coupe goes on sale next April for £44,070. We can not wait!
