The current generation BMW 5 Series is soon to part ways with showrooms as it will be replaced by the end of this year. It has seen much success and did a great job of ushering in a new series of engines. The M5 has always been a battle axe we have loved and the reigning model once again impressed. Alas it is also soon to exit stage right and be replaced, but not before one last crack of the whip. This is the BMW M5 Competition Edition and it packs a serious punch.
This last hurrah for the F10 model will cost you a princely £100,995 but it does come with some meaty performance increases. Power from the 4.4 litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine has risen from 552 BHP to a Thor-like 592 BHP! Torque also sees a bump to 516lb ft. 0-62 MPH takes just 3.9 seconds for this German super saloon whilst the top speed is still electronically limited to 155 MPH. This extra grunt has not been found in the engine bay, but instead unlocked via the cars ECU.
Externally the BMW M5 Competition Edition receives a neat rear spoiler and aggressive diffuser. A gloss black grill and set of 20 inch alloy wheels sets the car off nicely.
Just 200 of these BMW M5 Competition Edition cars will be built, so expect them to sell out as fast as they can go.
