What could be better than indulging your love of cars whilst helping a good cause? CarFest does just that and this year the event is bigger than ever. The North event went down swimmingly and now it was the turn of South hosted at Laverstoke Park Farm. Ex-Top Gear host and BBC Radio 2 frontman, Chris Evans, came up with the idea of a supercar event that raises money for Children in Need. We attended CarFest 2016, our third CarFest, in order to soak up this unique atmosphere.
A beautifully hot British summer day narrated our trip on Friday which meant taking full advantage of everything outside. Manufacturers have become really hands-on with the event as it has grown over the years. Honda not only displayed the eye-catching new NSX supercar, but also offered visitors the chance to ride on their quad bikes. Peugeot provided VIP hospitality whilst Jaguar showed off the climbing capabilities of the new F Pace SUV.
The CarFest 2016 Paddock was filled with plenty of star cars ranging from pre-war racers to the latest hyper cars. Some particular machines of note included the legendary Ferrari F40, Jaguar XJ220, and a Peugeot 205 T16. LaFerrari was once again a real crowd pleaser as were the Formula One cars.
Better than simply looking at the cars on static display, CarFest 2016 demonstrates them in motion. The glorious sound of horsepower fills the air and elates the crowd. It is not unusual to see famous faces behind the wheel of these exotic examples.
Once the combustion of the show has taken place attention turns to the stage. Big headline acts such as The Darkness, The Feeling, Status Quo, Will Young and more perform into the night. The whole event has a real festival atmosphere.
CarFest 2016 was totally sold-out and this weekend will raise plenty of money for an important cause.
