The United Sports Car Championship is shaping up to be a hotly contested battle for the 2014 season. Porsche’s 911 will again be challenged by the Aston Martin V8 Vantage. The Ferrari 458 will be on the prowl for victory along with the STR Viper. Corvette has really made its mark in endurance racing with their C6.R, but as good as that car was, the old must give way to the new. The Chevrolet Corvette C7.R is Ready to Race!
Looking every bit as mean as the Z06 that its shares its aluminium frame with, the Chevrolet C7.R aims to be as successful as its predecessor. To line-up on the grid this year, the new car is powered by 5.5 litre V8 with direct injection that claims to be 3% more fuel efficient than last year. Another area of improved efficiency is cooling as the forward tilted radiators will do their best whilst this yellow beast hunts down its prey. Obviously in modern race cars downforce is key and though that rear wing may be big enough to serve as a bed, the extra grip it provides is crucial. This 2014 car will see its first outing at the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
