You have to admit, looking through the range of C-segment cars on offer today you can’t help but think they are, well, a bit boring. Some are very nice to drive, but at least in the aesthetics department they all seem to be copying each other. The result is a lack of variation and for those people who like to be a bit different in standing out form the crowd, their choices are limited. Citroen aim to change all of that with their new car… The Citroen C4 Cactus is a French Revolution.
Well, it certainly makes a visual statement doesn’t it! This ultra-funky VW Golf rival is no concept car, this is in fact the finished production model that will go on sale in October. It is a very bold design from Citroen but we like the two-tone “air-bumps” on the doors and very cool alloy wheels. Other nice touches are found at the front with a wraparound bumper and more two-tone trim. This car is a revolution in more than just looks as this whole machine weighs just 965kg. The C4 Cactus’ small engines; a turbocharged 1.0 VTi with 81BHP, e-THP 108BHP, 99BHP BlueHDI and 91BHP eHDI, aid with weight saving. A minimalist cabin creates an airy look to the interior as well further reducing the cars mass. Citroen claim that the running costs of the C4 Cactus will be very low.
The French company must be applauded for being brave enough to be different.
