Citroen’s DS brand has seen massive success since its reintroduction in 2009 with the funky DS3. With a modern design that was not at all retro, the little car became very popular and provides something for the likes of Mini to think about. Other models such as the DS4 and DS5 followed bringing with them luxurious interiors and more unusual design elements. However, the brands real success is to be found in China were they now sell more cars than in their home nation of France. At the Beijing motor show the Citroen DS 6WR joins the range.
In China the DS brand is marketed separately from Citroen. Expanding the model range is the Citroen DS 6WR, a premium crossover inspired by the Wild Rubis concept of last year. Strong body lines and chromed trim gives the DS 6WR a strong stance that is actually quite handsome. Engines consist of two 1.6 litre petrol engines with either 160BHP or 200BHP. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 6 speed automatic transmission.
It is as yet unclear is the Citroen DS 6WR will come to the UK, but we think that it is more than likely due to the popularity of the crossover market in Europe.
