In a sport where a hundredth of a second can cost you millions, it is understandable why Formula One has such strict regulations. Testing of the teams 2012 babies has been underway for a couple of weeks now and is set to enter its final weekend before the championship kicks off in Australia on 18th March. Both Ferrari and Red Bull want to alter their testing days so that they begin and end a day later than everyone else.
Meetings with the FIA have been had and the result is no cigar. According to the rules testing must be completed “a week preceding the event” and what is a rule for one is a rule for all. Why Red Bull and Ferrari want to delay their final tests is unclear, but regardless of this, they must do as the regulators tell them too.
