Ferrari has unveiled an exclusive model called the Ferrari F60 America, which is to celebrate the prestigious company’s 60th year in North America. A grand total of ten F60 Americas will be produced, reminiscent of the 1967 275 GTS4 NART spider that only sold exclusively to the USA and in the same numbers. The F60 America is an open top version of the F12 Berlinetta and Ferrari says their new car “combines our American client’s two great passions – the V12 engine and open-top driving”.
The standard F12 Berlinetta has been in production for a cost of £238,938 since 2012, but the F60 America does cost substantially more than this, boasting a colossal price tag of £1.56 million.
The styling of the F60 America has been modestly altered from the F12 Berlinetta other than the obvious change of the lack of roof. The new look makes the F60 seem more aggressive and it’s safe to say that it is an absolutely stunning car. Features such as special 60th anniversary prancing horses by the wheel arches and the roll hoops being trimmed in leather really make this spectacular something very special.
This not only being a Ferrari, but a special edition Ferrari you would hope that the F60 America boasts some impressive performance figures, and indeed it does. A colossal 6.3-litre V12 engine produces an absolutely explosive 731bhp, which fires the roofless powerhouse to 0-62 mph in just 3.1 seconds. It is clear to see that the F60 America is not only an aesthetic masterpiece, but also a monumental technical achievement.
A blade like gear selection panel hints at a similar design to the LaFerrari and 458 Speciale. A fabric roof, which submerses the driver into the interior, is capable of travel at up to 75mph. There is no doubt that the Ferrari F60 America will go down in history as a rare beast. A beautiful car produced in such minuscule numbers will always be desired by so many people, which is certainly the case as all 10 have already been sold. It is easy to see that the F60 America will be talked about for years to come and may even go down as one of the most notable cars produced by possibly the most famous manufacturer in the business.
