1981 saw the birth of the Fiesta XR2, basically the same car your parents drove but on steroids. Simple, cheap and very fast all key traits that are synonymous with a fast Ford. Today that 29 year-old tradition continues with this adrenaline inducing Fiesta S1600 based on the Zetec S.
Under to bonnet is a 1.6 litre, 120BHP, Duratec Ti-VCT petrol engine that is primed for high-revs. The muscular styling is present in every aspect of the car from its bulging sports seats to the meaty roof stripes. The car is begging for a good thrashing around a B-Road! As if that wasn’t enough, Ford will also offer a further performance upgrade in partnership with Mountune. No details as yet on the pricing or performance of the upgrade, but expect it to significantly increase BHP output.
The S1600 is available now from your local Ford dealership in frozen white with blue stripes, or performance blue with white stripes. However if you want one of these ASBO inspiring hatches you had better get a move on as production is limited to 650 examples priced at £16,645.
