We have known for some time that the legendary British supercar maker and F1 team, McLaren, would be producing a new car. Though one is in the works, this will not be a car to break speed records like its older brother did. McLaren have set themselves the much harder task of breaking into the most competitive market in the industry, one dominated by the likes of Ferrari and Lamborghini. Named the MP4-12c, the first fully production ready car is being built in Woking.
The McLaren Technology Centre, MTC, is the birthplace of every new Formula One car the team builds. Right next to the 2011 F1 competitor the MP4-12c is under construction named as chassis 001. Later this year production will move to a purpose built factory next door to the MTC. This McLaren is to compete with the Ferrari 458 Italia and Lamborghini Gallardo but with tech taken direct from the track the British firm hope to have a competitive edge.
The first 592BHP V8 supercar is to be finished very soon.
