The Ford Mondoe is something of an icon in the UK. This family workhorse has been adopted by many and even coined the phrase “Mondeo man”. There have been some sporty variations in the past, most notably the Mondoe ST220 which is actually rather sort after these days. Currently there is no Mondoe ST but today at Goodwood we take a step closer to what many have been asking for. This is the new Ford Mondeo ST-Line.
ST-Line was launched recently by Ford and it is effectively what M-Sport and AMG-Line are to the Germans. Adding some sporty styling to the Mondoe clearly works as this hint of aggression suits the new generation car rather well. The black mesh grill sits above the restyled front bumper, whilst around the back dual exhausts and a shallow diffuser are on show. 18 inch alloy wheels come as standard, but there are 19 inch variants available.
Inside the Ford Mondoe ST-Line receives sports seats with contrasting stitching. Two body styles are being offered, hatchback and estate, to suit your needs.
Mechanically the engine remains untouched, we hope for a spicy Mondoe in the future, with the 2.0 litre diesels outputting 148bhp and 178bhp. All wheel drive can be specified. The suspension has been tweaked slightly bringing the ride high down by 10mm.
The Ford Mondoe ST-Line has yet to be given a price, but it will be interesting to see if demand for this car drives an appetite within Ford to produce the Mondoe we really want!
