Back in the day anything approaching 500BHP was seen as the peak of engineering, and borderline dangerous. Today, however, that figure is dwarfed thanks to the likes of the Bugatti Veyron. At first the fabled machine appeared to be one of a kind but as time passed more and more combatants joined the 1,000BHP+ club. France is next to have another crack of the whip.
New supercar manufacturer, Genty Automobile, is to produce just 15 examples of its Akylone. “Yep, we have no idea how to pronounce it either…” Powered by a 4.8 litre twin-turbo V8 the cars projected output of over 1,000BHP will send this machine from standing to 62MPH in just 2.7 seconds. The cars top speed is also suggested to be 220MPH thanks carbon fibre and aluminium chassis resulting in its lack of weight.
