The Germans have the luxury saloon market well under control at the moment. Between Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz that segment appears to already have enough very good competition. Jaguar’s XF made a good dent into the German armour, but this is their home turf now and so they fought back hard. But don’t count Jag out! Making its debut at the New York auto show is the all-new 2015 Jaguar XF.
Revealed in a high wire stunt over the river Thames in London, this new saloon will take on the BMW 5 Series, Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Utilising a body structure that is primarily made of aluminium, this car is much lighter than its predecessor. A full 190KG lighter to be accurate, despite being 30% stiffer. Weight distribution is 50/50. A taught muscular body creates a handsome, yet brutish, appearance. Several engines are on offer including; a new 2.0 litre four cylinder Ingenium petrol and diesel, twin-turbo 3.0 litre V6 and a supercharged V6. The latter is the most potent producing 375BHP and 332b ft of torque. The interior is minimalistic but classy sporting a large quad-core powered 12.3 inch touchscreen. A rising gear selector features once again.
