So, you are a keen driver and love the interaction between man and machine when the time comes to take on some British B-roads. The feeling through the steering wheel, the sound of the engine and with you being the organic heart of the operation, the car needs you as much as you need it. However, jump into most modern cars today and you are kept company by electronic nannies that keep you out of trouble, over assisted steering with no feeling, as well as the general sensation that the car would rather be driving itself. Kia have picked up on this and apparently they don’t like it… So what are they going to do about the situation? Lead by example of course and build a pure sports car.
The Kia GT Stinger Concept has been revealed at the Detroit motor show. Kia say that this concept “harks back to the days of affordable sports cars.” Its strong shoulder lines on an otherwise sleek body make the Stinger quite an attractive car to look. A wide grill and short rear proportions have all the hallmarks of a typical sports car. Powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged engine with 315BHP, this 2+2 would take on rivals such as the Toyota GT86. The simple driver orientated cockpit features transparent A-pillars and “is a tribute to a day when performance was about a direct link between driver and machine.” Officially the Kia GT4 Stinger Concept is just that, a concept. However, with enough positive feedback who knows?
