It has long been speculated that Kimi Raikkonen is to rejoin the ever quickening pace of Formula One. The Finn left the sport in 2009 after loosing his form that won him the 2007 world drivers championship by 1 point. After leaving the sport he enter the WRC but saw limited success in his time there. Now the mist has cleared and we now know the situation for 2012.
Strong links between the 2007 champion and WIlliams were made though we now know that the deal disintegrated. Kimi is to join Lotus for 2012 in a bid to put the car at the front of the grid. Raikkonen said “My hunger for F1 recently has become overwhelming.” and went on to say “My time in the World Rally Championship has been a useful stage in my career as a driver.” As all the drivers involved well know, their are only two seats for a drive at Lotus and that means that someone is going to be left outside in the cold. Who that is remains unclear.
