Many brands feel the need to diversify and broaden their product portfolio. Niche markets no longer satisfy the likes of Porsche and Bentley as the prestige badges begin to stray into new territory. Whilst Ferrari are standing firm on not producing a saloon or 4X4, age old rivals Lamborghini have just confirmed production of their Urus 4X4.
To become the second 4X4 the raging bull has ever produced, the Urus has had its business case reviewed and given the green light by parent company Volkswagen. To be built upon the next generation MLB platform and use carbon fibre for extensive weight saving, the new Lamborghini will share its underpinnings with the next-generation Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne. The engine that will sit beneath its sculpted bonnet is as yet unknown, but will likely by a twin-turbo V8 with around 600BHP.
