Maserati is a company that was cast in the wheel to wheel battle of Grand Prix racing. The legendary name had a winning reputation long before Ferrari even existed… Yet, todays Maserati lacks a true sports car befitting the tridents heritage. Whilst the Quattroporte and Gran Turismo are fine cars, even the fastest Gran Turismo is a long distance GT car as opposed to a thrilling coupe. However, Maserati have put plans in motion to change all of that. Maserati Alfieri to Hit the Road 2016.
The Maserati Alfieri concept car was shown at this years Geneva motor show and absolutely blew crowds away with its stunning aesthetic. Sweeping Italian curves and a chisel jaw grill don the tightly packaged chassis. The Alfieri has been so well received that it will go into production during 2016 to take on the likes of Porsche’s 911 and the Jaguar F-Type. Its concept car was powered by a 4.7 litre V8 engine with 460BHP, though we would expect the production version to receive a turbocharged power plant. A convertible variant is planned to join the coupe in 2017 as revealed by its parent company, Fait, in their future plans.
Maserati also announced that they will be replacing the Gran Turismo in 2018.
