McLaren has a long and illustrious history in motorsport from Formula One to Le Mans, the latter bringing them a historic victory. Taking the F1 road car back to the track resulted in an overall win at the prestigious French race, even beating the prototype racing cars, and sealing that cars legendary status. Long tail variations with enhanced aerodynamics went on to race thereafter. Celebrating the Long Tails and bringing customers a more track focused car is the McLaren 675LT.
More than simply a 650S with a body kit, the McLaren 675LT has had a third of its parts change in the pursuit of being lighter with savings of 100KG. Its twin-turbocharged V8 engine has 50% new parts including; turbos, camshaft, connecting rods and a faster fuel pump. Said V8 now produces 666BHP and can get from 0-62MPH in a staggering 2.9 seconds. Top speed is 205MPH. Clearly with the LT nameplate the aerodynamics have been extensively revised and now incorporates a much larger airbrake that is twice the size of that found on a 650S.
In this video we see a menacing green McLaren 675LT let off of its leash for the first time. Making some great noises, it also gets pretty pretty sideways. Check it out below.
