Testing for the 2015 Formula One season is just days away and fans are eager to see what the teams have been up to since Lewis Hamilton won the 2014 championship. Mercedes were dominant from start to finish with Williams showing real pace also. McLaren had another disappointing year, but there are big changes for 2015 and the team are fired up to challenge for the championship. Today McLaren Honda revealed the MP4-30 car which will be piloted by Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button.
Honda’s new V6 hybrid unit powers the MP4-30 and represents the first time McLaren have used Honda as an engine supplier since 1992. There is a lot of legend surrounding the pairings success in the past, something they wish to recreate. The McLaren Honda MP4-30 incorporates the new nose regulations and so does not have the ugly appendage of its predecessor. Honda have worked hard to package the power unit tightly and McLaren have clearly been able to slim down the bodywork at the rear. The 2015 car wears a similar livery to that seen back in the Vodafone McLaren period consisting of silver, black and red.
If the team can get this new package to work in harmony, the MP4-30 could well be the car to beat in 2015.
