At today’s Goodwood Festival of Speed the McLaren MP4-12C was baptised with its first public debut. The iconic McLaren orange paint looked very much at home on the body of this remarkable car. The MP4-12C is very close to its finished state and only has its final tests to be completed before the car can go on sale early next year. It’s a tall order to enter this segment of the supercar market thanks to an infamous Italian rival from the track and now on the road.
McLarens latest offering has been priced at £175,000 a price Ron Dennis says you can’t get any more performance or quality for than the MP4-12C. The car conceals a 3.8 litre turbocharged V8 that will rev up to a magnificent 8,500RPM. Maximum torque is available from as little as 3,000RPM and with 592BHP at its disposal Ferrari should be very worried indeed. 0-124MPH is completed in less than 10 seconds but even more impressive is how it can stop from 100MPH in just seven car lengths!
2011 can’t come quick enough.
