As we are all aware, the McLaren P1 is a car of biblical proportion. It is one of the three hybrid hypercars that has caught the attention and been in the dreams of every car lover across the world. Not many things on four wheels can match the performance of the P1 either – 0-62mph is dealt with in 2.8 seconds and 0-100mph in 5.2 seconds. Power comes from a 3.8-litre twin turbo V8 engine which produces 727bhp. This works in conjunction with an electric motor for instant off-the-line acceleration and means an overall power output of 903bhp. The McLaren P1 isn’t all about straight line speed however – an aerodynamic body sculpted by the wind that goes over it and highly innovative technology allows the P1 to be one of the fastest you will find on a circuit as well.
Obviously, a car of this magnitude needs to reflect this performance in the way that it looks. The body shape is beautiful and now McLaren Special Operations have shown off a customer’s car which highlights the insanity of its performance. Reminiscent of the Formula One colour scheme McLaren are boasting this year, this absolutely stunning example undeniably looks the part. A black base colour is accented by a devilish red, outlining the doors, on the black wheels and the red nostrils makes this P1 look just as intimidating as the performance figures. This colour combination continues on in the interior – red additions on the wheel, dash and centre console on top of the black and carbon makes this a thing of beauty. McLaren Special Operations have done a fine job.
At £866,000 without MSO alterations, this car is not cheap by any means, but McLaren do give the courtesy of customising it how you want. We think this customer has got it just right.
