AMG is a division of Mercedes-Benz that takes your usually tranquil and luxurious Merc to create a powerful performance incarnation. Ever doing battle with the BMW M cars, AMG plans to produce even more competitive products with a new wave of next generation models. The recently revealed Mercedes-AMG GT is impressive and a true show of force, but what does the Mercedes-AMG C63 have to offer?
So here it is… The latest instalment of what has to be one of my favourite Mercedes models, now dubbed the Mercedes-AMG C63. The elegant look of the C-Class on which it is based has been made more aggressive with huge a grills and intakes, not to mention a quad exhaust. It is a sinister looking machine, but don’t go thinking that it is “all show and no go.” Power comes from a new 4.0 litre twin-turbocharged V8 of which it shares with the GT. 469BHP and 479lb ft of torque should give BMW something to think about. 0-62MPH is done and dusted in 4.1 seconds. If that wasn’t enough then the Mercedes-AMG C63 S offers up 503BHP and 516lb ft of torque. The interior is a blend of aluminium, leather and carbon fibre. The new car can do a reasonable 34.5MPG and is also available in estate guise.
