Mercedes have revealed their newest compact estate called the Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake. It adopts a coupé like profile but still possesses a sufficient amount of headroom despite its lower roofline. Two diesel and three petrol engines are available as well as the 4MATIC all-wheel drive. It will go on sale in January 2015 and first deliveries will arrive by March.
“The new CLA Shooting Brake offers a contemporary interpretation of sensual purity and represents the perfect synthesis between the emotionality of a coupé and the intelligence of a shooting brake.” Also the limited edition OrangeArt Edition model that includes orange rings around the headlamps ensures that the CLA Shooting Break is sure to be a head-turner. Details on the special edition version include orange painted rim flanges and orange and black seats with orange stitching reiterate to the driver that they are in a premium product.
The prevalent notion of beauty and sophistication alongside practicality is echoed in the clever design of the Shooting Brake. Headroom in the back is 4cm higher than the CLA previously and access to the rear seats has been improved. The load capacity has been upped to 595 litres without jeopardising the space and comfort on offer for rear seat passengers.
A magnetic catch on the rear seat emphasises the well thought out design; this helps when making full use of the 133cm long loading space. Also options such as the electric EASY-PACK tailgate further improves the convenience of the Shooting Brake.
All versions come with the ECO start/stop feature as standard and all-wheel drive will be available from launch, initially in the CLA 250 4MATIC and CLA 250 Sport and then in September of 2015 the 4MATIC diesel versions, the CLA 200 CDI and CLA 220 CDI.
