There appears to be a bit of a theme developing when it comes to quick crossovers. Audi have produced a more performance focused RS Q5 and at the top end of the spectrum Porsche has launched their baby 4X4 the Macan. Clearly this niche of sporty crossovers is what the market is taking to at this point in time and Mercedes-Benz want to get in on the action. With their new GLA being the prime candidate for the AMG treatment, the Detroit motor show will host the latest machine from the three pointed star.
This is the Mercedes-Benz GLA45 AMG and it looks pretty serious. Much like a bouncer on the door of a nightclub, this bruiser wears a no nonsense muscular bodykit. Its bold features houses comfort and luxury for five that includes some great looking body hugging seats. Under the bonnet the GLA45 AMG utilises the turbocharged 2.0 litre engine from the A45 AMG and CLA45 AMG meaning that a 0-62MPH time of just 4.9 seconds is unsurprising. This car is electronically limited to 155MPH but despite all of this performance it will still achieve 37.6MPG. Cog swapping is done via an AMG 7-speed DCT gearbox. Total output for the car is 355BHP and 332lb-ft of torque.
