Live in the UK? Never heard of the Mercedes GLK? Well that is because the modern-day interpretation of the G wagon never made it to our shores. It was only ever offered in left hand drive though Merc did promise a model with the wheel on the correct side a few years ago. Have they come good on their proposal? No. No they have not.
The 2012 GLK sees many refinements over what is said to be a great platform, not that we would know of course. The base model is propelled by a 2.1 litre diesel with 168BHP and 295lb-ft of torque. The top spec model gets a fully fledged 3.5 litre V6 engine packing 302BHP and 273lb-ft of torque. This G350 model can do 0-62MPH in just 6.4 seconds as well as achieve 40.9MPG. Visual refinements include some muscular bodywork and LED lighting.
Mercedes-Benz now says we will have to wait for the seconds generation GLK to get our taste of their Q5 rival.
