Mercedes-Benz has revealed a limited edition model called the SL 417 Mille Miglia for the Geneva motor show. It has been made to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the German manufacturers class win at the 1955 Mille Miglia in Italy. The 417 refers to the start number worn by the US driver John Fitch for the race.
This new SL comes with three colour options: night black magna, matt cashmere white magna and diamond white. As standard, however, it comes in an incredibly imposing magnetite black metallic. Each car also boasts stylistic alterations including red brake callipers, red accents on the front and rear bumpers and red outlines on the 19 inch front as well as 20 inch rear alloy wheels. On the inside, there are new red and matt carbon fibre style trims, black and red leather seats and steering wheel, as well as 417 Mille Miglia insignias embroidered in the headrests.
The SL400 version of the 417 Mille Miglia houses a twin-turbocharged V6 engine developing 328bhp whilst the SL500 version runs a twin-turbocharged 4.6-litre V8 producing and produces a more intimidating 449bhp. Both of these are available with Mercedes’ Active Body Control System as an option as well as adaptive damping as standard.
The Mercedes Benz SL 417 Mille Miglia is a rare beast with only 500 models being produced worldwide.
