Monte Carlo Rally Celebrates 100 Years

The Monte Carlo rally is one of those racing events so prestigious that regardless if you are into cars or not you have heard of it. THIS IS WHERE LEGENDS ARE MADE! The challenging multi-surface rally has seen everything from the biblical but now outlawed Group-B class cars with 600BHP+ to tiny supermini’s try to claim one of the most sort after titles in the world. The rugby world cup, the ashes, the football world cup, Formula One world championship and even the holy grail sit akin to this event, this season it celebrates100 years.

The rally was dropped from the WRC by the FIA govenring body due to cost in 2009 and has been argued as cause for rally supporters decline. However the International Rally Challenge has snapped it up and we are back in business. Rallying on any level requires true skill and unfaltering car control. Combine that with Monte Carlo’s icy mountain roads and perilous forest section, it takes quite a driver to win the event. With the added glory of winning the 100th event almost every driver under the sun is going to give it a shot. Some of those names include WRC World Champion Petter Solberg and Lotus-Renault GP Formula One pilot Robert Kubica.

19th-22nd of January will see this huge event take place. We wait with anticipation!
